Foreign Ministry comments on financial violations

The audit at the Foreign Ministry conducted by the State Financial Control Service under the Finance Ministry in 2021 covers the period from January 1, 2015, to July 3, 2020, Report informs, quoting Spokesperson for Foreign Ministry Leyla Abdullayeva.

“As a result of the operation carried out by the State Security Service in 2020, responsible employees of the Department of Affairs under the Foreign Ministry were detained. As a result of the investigative actions, the Foreign Ministry was recognized as a victim. In accordance with the ruling of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, dated December 22, 2021, which entered into force, the funds misappropriated by these persons as a result of criminal acts, were transferred to the Foreign Ministry,” Leyla Abdullayeva stressed.

Today the Finance Ministry issued a statement on the discovery of financial irregularities at the Foreign Ministry. From 2004 to 2020, the Foreign Ministry was headed by Elmar Mammadyarov.
