The International Folklore Festival opened in Shusha
The 5th Kharibulbul International Folklore Festival kicked off in Shusha, the capital of culture of Azerbaijan, on May 12. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attends the opening of the festival.

V “Kharibulbul” International Folklore Festival held in “Shusha Year” announced by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in connection with the 270th anniversary of Shusha city Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Ministry of Culture and Organized by Shusha City State Reserve. The fifth festival, which will end on May 14, is attended by musicians and dance groups from different countries, as well as folk groups from different regions of Azerbaijan.
Let `s note that, The first “Kharibulbul” festival in Shusha was organized by the famous singer, pedagogue, People’s Artist Seyid Shushinsky (1889-1965). 10It was held in 1989 on the occasion of its 0th anniversary. The event was organized in May of that year in Shusha during the flowering nightingale. Along with local performers, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia (Bashkortostan), Lithuania and Music groups from Belarus also took part.
Since 1990, the “Kharibulbul” festival has gained international status. The second festival is the Netherlands, Germany, Israel and The invitation of folklore groups from Turkey also aroused great interest. Due to the difficult situation in Shusha due to the beginning of the Karabakh conflict, the main concerts were organized in Agdam. A number of concerts of the festival in Barda and It was also held in Agjabadi. In total, the second festival was attended by about 170 delegates from different countries.
About 300 delegates from 25 countries took part in the III “Kharibulbul” festival held in 1991. USA and Artists from Australia also attended the festival. Due to the large number of spectators, the main concerts of the festival were held in stadiums. II and The final concerts of the third festivals were held at the Heydar Aliyev Palace in Baku.
The fourth festival was to begin on May 15, 1992, and was to be the most spectacular ever held. 500 people from more than 30 countries were expected to attend. However, due to the occupation of Shusha by Armenian troops on May 8 of the same year, it was not possible to organize the “Kharibulbul” festival here. The festival was held only for a short time in the building complex in Aghdam.
