Lufthansa has canceled about 900 flights

The reason is staff shortages

German airline Lufthansa has canceled hundreds of flights.

It is said that the reason is a lack of staff.

Bloomberg writes Lufthansa has canceled hundreds of summer flights as it struggles to recover from a coronavirus crisis.

More precisely, the company has canceled about 900 domestic and short-haul flights to Europe scheduled for July.

A company spokesman said the canceled weekend flights alone accounted for 5 percent of the airline’s typical weekend capacity.

“The entire aviation industry, especially Europe, is currently suffering from bottlenecks and staff shortages,” Lufthansa said in an e-mail statement.

The statement said that the current difficult situation has affected airports, ground services, as well as airlines.

Although Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr said last month that he had “mentally resolved the crisis” as Jovid’s threat subsided, labor market shocks have affected his airline’s summer plans.
