The immigrant blogger was told that armed men suspected of the assassination had been detained

One of them is said to be Azerbaijani and the other Moldovan

On the morning of June 14, French police reportedly detained two people near the city of Angers.

The detainees are suspected of plotting to assassinate blogger Mohammad Mirzali.

Reporters Without Borders issued a statement on the incident.

In a statement issued by Turan reported One of the detainees is Azerbaijani and the other is Moldovan of Turkish origin.

It is alleged that both men had pistols on them: “Both were in a car registered in Poland. Their GPS shows the blogger’s home address, and their phones have a picture of him. One of the detainees was arrested in Kiev in 2018 for kidnapping.

The statement said the identities of the detainees were not disclosed.

Janna Kavelie, head of the organization’s Eastern Europe and Central Asia department, said evidence showed a third plot to assassinate Mohammad Mirzali.

One of the detainees also had a Kalashnikov assault rifle in his profile: “I’m here.”

Blogger Mohammad Mirzali, who has been a constant critic of the Azerbaijani leadership, said he receives such messages every day, especially on YouTube.

He was reportedly stabbed in March 2021 in central Nantes.

In late April, four people, three of them from Azerbaijan, were convicted of the attack.

The relatives of the President of Azerbaijan have filed lawsuits against the blogger in French courts.

Reporters Without Borders said in a statement that a defamation lawsuit filed by former Azerbaijani Deputy Economy Minister Mohammad Mirzali last week was rejected.
