As reported, the law “On the status of a deputy of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan” is being amended.
According to the amendments, the salaries of deputies will be sharply increased by 43%, and they will be paid not twice, but twice a month.
According to the current legislation, the chairman of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova He received a monthly salary of 2475 manat. If there is a change, his salary will increase by no less than 43.43%, ie 1,075 manat. Thus, the monthly salary of the chairman of the Parliament will be 3550 AZN.
In addition, according to the proposed amendment, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis will receive a salary supplement in the amount of twice the monthly salary. If the change is adopted, the official income of the Speaker of the Milli Majlis will be AZN 10,650 per month.
The salary increase will apply to ordinary deputies, deputy chairmen of the Milli Majlis and committee chairmen.
Thus, the first deputy chairman of the Milli Majlis Ali Huseynli If before this change he received a monthly salary of 2227.5 manat, after the adoption of the law his official salary will be 3195 manat. If this amount is added to the official salary in the amount of twice the monthly salary, this figure will reach 9585 AZN.
Deputy Chairmen of the Parliament Adil Aliyev and Fazail Ibrahimli salaries will increase from 2103.75 manat to 3017.5 manat. If this amount is added to their official salary in the amount of twice their monthly salary, their income will increase by 9052.5 manat.
If the salary of the chairmen of committees and commissions of the Milli Majlis was 1980 AZN, then this amount will be 2840 manat. When this amount is added to the official salary in the amount of twice the monthly salary, this figure will reach 8520 AZN.
The salaries of the deputy chairmen of the commissions of the Milli Majlis are also increased from AZN 1,856.25 to AZN 2,662.5. If this amount is added to their official salary in the amount of twice their monthly salary, their income will be 7987.5 manat.
The salaries of ordinary deputies are also increased by 43%. Thus, the deputy, who has received a salary of AZN 1,732.5 so far, will receive AZN 2,485. If this amount is added to their official salary in the amount of twice their monthly salary, their income will increase by 7455 manat.
The increase in MPs’ salaries has caused a great deal of discussion on social networks. Thus, if before this increase there was an 11.5-fold difference between the income of a deputy and a citizen receiving the minimum wage (300 AZN) in the country, then this figure will reach 24.85 times.
It should be noted that only the salaries of deputies are taxable. Thus, they are not taxed in addition to their salaries.
