Nazarbayev’s brother accused of illegally seizing company
Bolat Nazarbayev, 69, fled Kazakhstan during anti-government protests in early January and is believed to be in Dubai.

He is said to have fled to Dubai
A statement issued by the agency on June 21 said that the Almaty City Prosecutor’s Office had accepted the lawsuit and was currently investigating it. A decision will be made after a criminal case is opened against the former president’s brother.
The agency did not say who filed the lawsuit. But local media reported Nazarbayev and his ex-wife Maira Gurmangalievaor the initiator of the lawsuit against Nursha Kakenov writes that.

Nursultan Nazarbayev, 81, and his clan have lost power and prestige since the January protests. At least 230 people were killed and thousands injured in the protests.
“Duty” of relatives
Nazarbayev, who resigned as president in 2019 Qasim-Jomart Tokayevi chose his successor. However, he retained the post of head of the Security Council and had the title of President. Many of his relatives held important positions in government, security agencies, and lucrative energy groups.
In January, protests against rising fuel prices later spread throughout the country. Tokayev removed Nazarbayev from his post on the Security Council and replaced him.
A few days after the protests, Nazarbayev’s two sons-in-law were fired from leading positions in major state-owned companies.
A number of Nazarbayev’s relatives and close associates have either been fired or resigned. Some of them were arrested on corruption charges.
As a result of a referendum initiated by Tokayev in early June, articles related to Nazarbayev were removed from the constitution.
