“Both my aunt and her husband died as a ‘son’…” – MISSING – VUSALA MAMMADOVA WRITES |

“When I opened my eyes, I always saw them waiting for my uncle at home. My grandparents passed away waiting for my uncle. I will never forget, my grandmother did not take her eyes off the door even in her last breath. The last word was “has my son come?” it happened…

Now my father is waiting for his brother, and I am waiting for my uncle. It would be a lie to say that we are looking for it. At that time, they walked along the front for almost months. And now we are sitting at home and waiting… Sometimes it seems to me that I learned to wait for my uncle from my family. Perhaps this habit will be passed on to my children…

When we were in school, we used to say this verse at events:

“There’s one village there is far away, he village it is our village…

Even if we don’t go or come, he is village it’s our village…”

Then I thought to myself that there is a brave man far away, that brave man is my uncle. Even if he doesn’t come or go… that brave man is my uncle…”

All this was told to me by one of the young people I met while I was working on the “Missing: Each of 4000” project. He did not want his name to be disclosed, he believes that saying “we are not looking, but waiting” about his uncle may hurt his father.

Another interviewee refused to talk at all: “My daughter, thank you very much for looking for me, but let me say in advance that I will not give an interview. My son is not dead to speak of. My son is alive and I wait for him every day. All Ganja he knows that I have been waiting for the day of his arrival for years.”

On September 19, 1992, Elmira Dadashova, the mother of Ilham, who went missing during the fighting on Farrukh Mountain, has been looking away from the door since the discovery of the mass grave in Farrukh, and focused on the results of DNA tests… Every time she called, “a news didn’t come out?” – he asks…

Within the framework of the project, we were able to provide information about only six missing people in the research published on the Pressklub.az website, but we collected only one book of waiting stories. I hope we will be able to introduce them to you in time. In this post, we’ve collected just a few of the comments and messages we’ve received since the first posts were published:
