Economist Samir Aliyev shared information about this. In 1989, the total number of stations was increased to 18 with the opening of “Friendship of Peoples” and “Ahmedli” stations. With that little money, 18 metro stations were built in 43 years. That is, 2 stations every 5 years. Keep in mind that initial work takes more time. How many stations have we put into use in the period of independence – when all the money we earn remains with us, we have a budget in billions and we have modern equipment? The answer is embarrassing: only 8 stations in 31 years. 2 of them are auxiliary stations (“Jafar Jabbarli” and “Memar Ajami”). That is, 1 station every 4 years.”
The expert emphasized that the length of metro lines built during the Soviet era was 25.8 km, while this indicator was 13 km during the period of independence: “Currently, the length of the lines is 38.8 km. Baku metropolitan plans to increase the total length of its roads to 119.1 km and the number of stations to 76 within the framework of the State Program. That is, the length of the 38.8 km road built in 1973 and the number of 26 stations should be tripled. I leave it up to you how long these works can be done.
