The Taliban prohibits women from studying at universities

The Taliban government in Afghanistan has banned women from university education. This is the latest measure to limit the rights and freedoms of women and girls in the country.

Hard-line Islamists who came to power last year promised a softer policy than in the 1990s. However, restrictions on all aspects of women’s lives have been strengthened.
