Russia’s export of gas abroad decreased by 45.5 percent

The volume of gas exported by Russia to other countries outside the CIS decreased by 45.5 percent in 2022.

This on January 2 of Russia gas giant Gazprom declared.

President Vladimir Putin opened the Kovitka natural gas field in Eastern Siberia last month.

Experts say that this will give Russia the opportunity to further increase gas exports to China.

Miller’s confession

Russia has no way to transport gas from Western Siberia and the Arctic to China via pipelines.

The Power of Siberia gas pipeline was put into operation in 2019 and connected to the rapidly expanding Chinese market.

Miller admitted at a conference last week that 2022 was a “pretty difficult” year for Gazprom.

Miller also emphasized that the war in Ukraine and Western sanctions caused a “total change in the energy markets”.

Gazprom accounts for 11 percent of global gas production and owns the world’s largest gas fields.
