Russia is waging a war in the Caspian

During the 11-month war Russian troops across the Caspian Sea of Ukraine military and property infrastructures, including the capital Kyiv and hit major cities with cruise missiles. As a result, numerous human casualties occurred, vital communal infrastructure was destroyed, and the civilian population suffered severe deprivation.

The last such attack took place on the last day of last year – December 31. Russia army fired at its targets in Ukraine from missile-carrying cruisers. Earlier in the Black Sea military if the fleet was used for this purpose, Ukraine after the known strikes of his army Russia command of these activities in the Caspian Sea military assigned to the ships.

Before that, Russian strategic bombers over the Caspian Sea Ukraine carried out attacks on their cities. For example, on May 3, Tu-95 strategic bombers flew from the Caspian Sea to Lviv, Dnepropetrovsk, Kropivnitsky, Vinnytsia, Kyiv and launched high-precision missiles to Zakarpattia regions.
On June 26, Russia again from the Caspian Sea Kyiv launched six high-precision X-101 missiles in its direction.
Later, in August and September, he continued to launch rockets from the Caspian Sea. As a result of these attacks, the bioresources of the Caspian Sea are also severely affected. Environmentalists last December of the sea Azerbaijan they explain the finding of thousands of dead seals in the Caspian Sea with military waste. Thus, the toxic waste of cruise missiles fired over the sea both by air planes and military ships is poured into the waters, as a result the flora of the sea is destroyed.

Ukraine Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 30 last year Azerbaijan, Iran, appealed to Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, urging them to “make every effort to force Russia to comply with its international obligations, in particular, the convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea.” The reaction of the countries of the region to this call is unknown, and Russia is using the Caspian Sea for military purposes against Ukraine. But this is contrary to the legal documents signed between the coastal countries.

Recall that 2018On August 12, the Convention “On the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea” was signed in the city of Aktau.

National The Assembly ratified the document, President Ilham Aliyev and approved it on February 12, 2019. Convention only Iran The Islamic Republic has not ratified the document national argued that it was against his interests.

Russia’s use of the Caspian Sea for aggressive purposes violates several articles of the Convention.

In Article 11, paragraph 6 of the Convention, the parties have the following legal obligations:

Thus, the Convention “On the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea” was unilaterally violated by Russia. Azerbaijan and other coastal countries (Iran except) they should raise this issue before Russia and international organizations. If Moscow continues to use the Caspian Sea for aggressive purposes against Ukraine, the document will expire, or the bans imposed on partner countries will be unilaterally lifted. cancellation may come up. For example, it was agreed in the Convention that no country should allow the military participation of foreign countries in the Caspian Sea, and should not use their military infrastructure. this is Azerbaijan limits the possibilities of effective protection of sea borders. Previously official Baku USA, Turkey and actively cooperated with Israel in this direction and was forced to minimize it after pressure from Russia. Currently, Moscow uses the sea for its military purposes without considering the position of the Caspian littoral countries To Azerbaijan green light is on…
