Russia’s representative in eastern Ukraine accuses Britain of espionage

LONDON, 13 january (Reuters) – Russia occupied by of Ukraine The authorities in the eastern part of the country have accused a Briton working in international conflict monitoring of spying on Ukraine.

State-owned RIA reports that David Orrells, who worked as a drone operator for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Russia is suspected of handing over intelligence about the positions of fighters supported by attacks them.

Orrells contacted Reuters last February, shortly before Russia invaded Ukraine of Ukraine He said he had left the Luhansk region and was now “completely safe” in the UK.

He called this allegation “ridiculous” and said that he did not know why it was being voiced now.

Investigation of Ukraine launched by the Ministry of State Security of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), one of Russia’s trusted representatives in the eastern Donbas region.

Before the invasion, Orrells in the ongoing conflict since 2014 Ukraine led an OSCE group that uses drones to monitor the often-broken ceasefire between its troops and Russian-backed forces.

He said the footage was submitted for analysis by his colleagues at the OSCE, which provides daily updates on the situation along the contact line on both sides.

Orrells said the monitors met with “massive skepticism” from the LPR. “They would do anything to hurt, annoy and hinder us.”

The OSCE completed its mission after the invasion of Russia on February 24 last year.
