US FAA adopts new security measures after computer outage halts flights |
WASHINGTON, 30 january (Reuters) – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) told lawmakers on Monday that it has made several changes to prevent a repeat of a major computer system failure that forced the grounding of more than 11,000 flights nationwide on Jan. 11.
The FAA said it “implemented a one-hour synchronization delay for one of the backup databases. This action will prevent data errors from reaching that backup database immediately.” The FAA also said it “now requires at least two people, including a federal manager, to maintain the (messaging) system.”
