FRANKFURT, 31 January (Reuters) – Israeli startup StoreDot, which develops fast-charging batteries, said on Tuesday it is partnering with U.K. startup Circulor, which uses blockchain technology to map supply chains for companies seeking greener, more sustainable manufacturing. .
StoreDot has started using Circulor technology to track the origin of raw materials and carbon emissions in battery cells.
Other firms using it include Volvo Cars ( VOLCARb.ST ), Polestar, BHP ( BHP.AX ) and TotalEnergies ( TTEF.PA ).
StoreDot, which now has Mercedes-Benz ( MBGn.DE ), BP ( BP.L ), Polestar ( INBSCL.UL ) and Samsung ( SAGR.UL ) as its investors, is aiming to be able to deliver the cells. Until 2024 with a 5-minute charge 100 miles (161 km) distance.
The company has also joined the Battery Pass project, a German-funded consortium working to develop common classifications and standards for collecting and disclosing information about batteries. Circular is also a partner.
