Bloomberg News reports that Pinterest is cutting about 150 jobs

Feb 1 (Reuters) – Pinterest Inc ( PINS.N ) is cutting about 150 jobs, or less than 5% of its total workforce, Bloomberg News said on Wednesday, joining a host of tech companies laying off workers to cut costs.

The digital search company, which allows users to create online pinboards, notified affected employees on Wednesday, the report said, citing a person familiar with the company.

The job cuts came from teams at the San Francisco-based company, though not all were equally affected.

“We are making organizational changes to further align us with our company’s priorities and our long-term strategy,” a company spokeswoman told Reuters, confirming the job cuts. However, the official declined to confirm the number of layoffs.

The spokesperson added that Pinterest will support all affected employees during the transition with severance packages, benefits and other services.
