TOKYO, Feb 2 (Reuters) – Japan’s Honda Motor Co ( 7267.T ) this year General Motors Co ( GM.N ) said it would start production of a new hydrogen fuel cell system and gradually increase sales this decade. a proposal to expand the hydrogen business.

With the “next generation” system, the company aims to more than double the durability and cut costs by two-thirds compared to the old fuel cell system.
“While commercial vehicles are used all over the world, they will see the same electrification as passenger cars,” said Tetsuya Hasebe, general manager of Honda’s hydrogen business development division.
This is likely to lead to a divide between trucks that use batteries and cars that run on fuel cells, he added.
