Netflix will feature electric cars from GM and others in its programming

LOS ANGELES, Feb 2 (Reuters) – Netflix Inc ( NFLX.O ) has announced a new star for some of its upcoming shows: General Motors (GM.N) and others car manufacturers of electric cars.

The streaming service announced a deal on Thursday to feature cars including the Chevrolet Bolt, the electric GMC Hummer pickup and the Cadillac Lyriq in TV series and movies “on an as-needed basis.”

The companies will highlight the partnership in a commercial starring Will Ferrell that will air during the Super Bowl on February 12. Netflix and GM called the deal “part of a commitment to a more sustainable future.”

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Netflix said it will help creators “better understand how EVs can complement and enhance their stories.”

Shows that will showcase GM’s electric vehicles include Love is Blind, Queer Eye and Unstable.

The company said that Netflix production is different car will also cover electric cars produced by manufacturers.
