February 8 (Reuters) – Meta Platforms Inc (META.O) Facebook and Instagram has been restored to most users after a brief outage, the company said Wednesday, after a technical problem that disrupted service for thousands of people has been resolved.
“A technical issue has caused some people to have difficulty accessing our products. We resolved the issue as soon as possible,” a Meta spokesperson told Reuters.
At the peak of the outage, according to the outage tracking site Downdetector.com Facebook users reported more than 11,000 incidents, while Instagram users reported nearly 7,000 incidents.
Downdetector tracks outages on its platform by combining status reports from multiple sources, including user-submitted bugs.
Clock in Eastern time 20As of :30 a.m. (0130 GMT), the number of outages has increased to 11 for Instagram and Facebook decreased to 81 cases.
Users also reported problems with Messenger, Facebook’s online messaging service.
