February 9 (Reuters) – Russia the head of the state nuclear company “Rosatom” said on Thursday in Moscow UNafter a meeting with Rafael Grossi, head of the nuclear control agency of Ukraine Zaporozhye is ready to continue the work on creating a safety zone around the nuclear power plant.

Shortly after the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant invaded Ukraine last year Russia was captured by the forces and Moscow and Kyiv have repeatedly come under fire, blaming trade and accusing each other of creating a risk of nuclear accident.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) called for a security zone around the station to prevent heavy weapons and projectiles from causing further damage.

“Rafael Grossi spoke about the initiative to create a nuclear and physical nuclear safety zone at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant,” Rosatom said.

“Regarding this (Rosatom CEO) Alexey Likhachev Russia side IAEAsaid that he is ready to continue the work on the implementation of the initiative of the director general.
