Feb 11 (Reuters) – Ecuador’s state oil company Petroecuador appointed Maria Elisa Soledispa as interim chief executive on Saturday, making her the first woman to lead the company in its history, the government said in a statement.
This is the past chief It comes a day after Hugo Aguiar resigned after his home was searched by the attorney general’s office as part of a corruption investigation.
Soledispa, who most recently served as Petroecuador’s marketing manager, was elected in an extraordinary meeting and will be subject to audits, the statement said.
He added that in the near future three people will be presented as candidates to take the position for a longer period.
The country’s energy minister, Fernando Santos, told Reuters by phone on Friday that the plan was a “temporary (chief) is to name it so that we can calmly look at the profile for definitive replacement.
