WASHINGTON, Feb 16 (Reuters) – Tesla Inc ( TSLA.O ) 362,000 USA is recalling its car because its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Beta program could cause an accident.

The auto safety regulator said Tesla’s software “allows the car to exceed the speed limit or drive illegally or unexpectedly at intersections, increasing the risk of a crash.” Tesla will release a free over-the-air (OTA) software update. Tesla said it is not aware of any injuries or deaths that may be related to the recall issue

“The system may not respond adequately to changes in posted speed limits or may not adequately account for the driver’s adjustment of vehicle speed to exceed the posted speed limit,” NHTSA said.

About 54,000 fitted with the Tesla FSD Beta program last year USA has recalled its vehicle, which may allow certain models to fail to come to a complete stop at certain intersections, posing a safety risk.

Tesla and NHTSA say FSD’s advanced driving features do not make the cars autonomous and require driver attention.
