Amazon asks its employees to be in the office at least three days a week | – #Amazon #asks #employees #office #days #week

Feb 17 (Reuters) – Amazon.com Inc ( AMZN.O ), the e-commerce giant, said on Friday it will require workers to be in the office at least three days a week starting May 1.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the workplace, with companies sending employees home to work remotely. While quarantines are easing around the world, a large population of workers remain remote or in hybrid environments.

In a message posted on Amazon’s blog, CEO Andy Jassy wrote that the decision was made at a meeting earlier this week and that the move will facilitate learning and collaboration.

“This change will provide a boost to thousands of businesses located around our urban headquarters in Puget Sound, Virginia, Nashville and the dozens of cities around the world where our employees commute,” said Jassy.

The company added that there will be some exceptions to the rule – customer support roles and sales staff will have the option to work remotely.

Amazon said in October 2021 that individual teams will decide how many days per week corporate employees will be expected to work from the office.
