Feb 17 (Reuters) – Microsoft ( MSFT.O ) said on Friday it will limit chat sessions on its new Bing search engine powered by generative artificial intelligence (AI) to five questions per session and 50 questions per day.

“As we recently noted, very long chat sessions can confuse the basic chat model in the new Bing. To address these issues, we’ve made some changes to help keep chat sessions focused,” Microsoft said in a blog post.

Microsoft’s decision comes days after some media outlets reported that responses from the new Bing search engine are potentially dangerous and that the technology may not be ready for prime time.

Primary search results and Microsoft’s Bing and GoogleConversations with a chatbot called Bard showed that they can be unpredictable.

This week, a Reuters reporter from a new version of Bing powered by artificial intelligence car weather when asking about the price of its filters, Bing doesn’t just provide specific answers to the question, car parts site also included ads for filters sold by Parts Geek.

With a waiting list of millions of people for access, the new Bing is a potentially lucrative opportunity for Microsoft. During an investor and press presentation last week, the company said that for every percent of market share it gains in the search advertising market, another 2 billion dollars said it could bring in advertising revenue.
