LONDON, Feb 23 (Reuters) – Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu accused on Thursday of using western Ukraine to divide Russia, the world’s largest country by area, but said such an attempt would fail.
These words the president Shoigu, a close comrade-in-arms of Vladimir Putin, said in a congratulatory letter to the armed forces at a concert held in the center of Moscow on the occasion of Russia’s “Defender of the Fatherland” holiday.
“Using Ukraine, the collective West is trying to divide Russia and deprive it of its independence. These attempts are doomed to failure”, – Shoigu Russia news agencies said in a statement.
