LOS ANGELES, Feb 26 (Reuters) – An action-adventure that emphasizes its “anywhere at once” dimension is in the running for multiple awards on Sunday at the Screen Actors Guild awards, a glitzy red-carpet event that offers clues about what actors and films will do next. will win next month’s Oscars.

The film, starring Michelle Yeoh as a frustrated laundromat owner trying to do her taxes, is the favorite to win best film ensemble at the SAG awards, according to a poll by website Gold Derby.

If the film wins big, it will give it a boost heading into the Academy Awards on March 12. SAG winners are chosen by members of the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA, and actors make up the largest voting group for the Oscars.

Other films in contention for the SAG award include Steven Spielberg’s semi-autobiographical drama The Fablemen and the dark comedy Inisher’s Banshees. The awards air on Netflix Inc’s ( NFLX.O ) YouTube channel at 8 a.m. ET (Monday at 0100 GMT) will be broadcast live.

Banshees, the story of feuding friends on a remote Irish island, earned SAG nominations for lead actor Colin Farrell and supporting actors Brendan Gleeson, Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon.

For Everything Everywhere, Yeoh was nominated in the supporting actor and actress categories, competing against leading actors Ke Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu.

Yeoh will be up against Viola Davis, star of The Woman King, and Danielle Deadwyler, who played a determined mother in Till, for best actress.

Both black actresses were nominated by voters for the Oscars, making the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences not doing enough to recognize people of color since the #OscarsSoWhite movement in 2015.

Other SAG nominees include Austin Butler for his role as the king of rock ‘n’ roll in “Elvis,” Cate Blanchett for his portrayal of a manipulative conductor in “Tar” and Adam Sandler for the basketball drama “Hustle.”

In the television categories, “Better Call Saul,” “The Crown,” “Ozark,” “Severance” and “The White Lotus” will compete for best drama actor.

The nominees for best ensemble cast in a TV comedy are Abbott Elementary, Barry, The Bear, Hacks and Only Murders in the Building.
