It was reported that the cargo ship “MSC ISTANBUL” ran aground in the Suez Canal, but the canal was opened by tugboats without stopping sea traffic.

Chairman of the Suez Canal Administration, Osama Rabi, said in a written statement that the MSC ISTANBUL container ship going from Malaysia to Portugal crashed into the shore while passing through the canal.

Rabi stated that as soon as he received information from the main control center about the ship’s landing, 4 tugboats were launched and the ship sailed again, noting that the incident did not affect the ship traffic in the channel.
