menswear dazzles on red carpets this awards season | – #menswear #dazzles #red #carpets #awards #season

LONDON, March 6 (Reuters) – From classic tuxedos to flashy jumpsuits, menswear dazzled on the red carpets this awards season, sometimes even garnering the most attention for their eye-catching looks.

Singer Harry Styles arrived at the Grammy Awards in a glittery, bare-chested jumpsuit, while Oscar-nominated Barry Keoghan attended the Golden Globes and Britain She chose pale blue and red ensembles as her style choice for the BAFTA Awards.

While classic suits and tuxedos are still a staple of the red carpet, menswear now has a lot of variety and bolder options – vibrant colors, bright embroidery or details, fashion favorite actor Timothee Chalamet often shows off with unconventional outfits.

“Now there are perhaps more expectations than traditionally… 20 or 30 years ago (then) it was more predetermined what men were going to wear at events,” Charlie Teasdale, style director of men’s magazine Esquire UK, told Reuters.

“Now it’s more of a guessing game.”

Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne has won style awards for his red carpet choices this awards season, which culminated with the Oscars on Sunday. Her look included a full brown suit with a large bead embellishment, a black jumpsuit and high-waisted black pants paired with a white shirt with a massive bow at the neck.

In some cases, ties have been loosened or removed entirely—actor Andrew Garfield showed off a more open-necked look in a dark orange suit for the Globes, while Donald Glover opted for white silk pajamas under a black jacket for the same event.

“A lot of the guys you see at the ceremonies, that’s where people really see the trends that are coming up or that might show up in two years or less,” Teasdale said.

“In that sense, menswear, especially on the red carpet, has become very exciting, especially in the last few years, because you never know what’s going to happen, and it’s very effective.”

Teasdale has distinguished herself between film and music events such as the Grammys and BRIT Awards, with the former sporting more classically tailored suits like the BAFTAs and the latter sporting bolder looks.

Men’s accessories this season include sparkling collar jewelry worn by actors such as Rege-Jean Page and Rami Malek, diamond-encrusted sunglasses and clutch bags favored by music star Pharrell Williams at the Grammys.

“I love it,” Oscar nominee Michel Yeoh told Reuters last month when asked what he thought of men’s fashion this awards season.

“It’s like men are allowed to have color and be bold and beautiful and amazing or whatever they want.”
