In a student dormitory in Vilnius, there was a commotion due to a find in the shower: there was a fear of a pervert

One girl found the hidden camera in the shower in the so-called “Kamchatka” dormitories on Saulėtekios alley.

Students on Facebook are encouraged to be vigilant and check private spaces for similar finds.

Gretė Gerulaitytė, Head of VU Communication Sub-Department, confirmed in a comment forwarded to Delfi that the situation regarding the possibly discovered camera is known to the dormitory administration, but it has not been confirmed yet.

“The device is currently under forensic examination to determine if it is a working video recording device or an imitation device,” she wrote.

The VU representative assured that after the device was found, a thorough inspection was carried out in all dormitories

“No similar devices have been found,” she informed.

No one has yet contacted the police about this incident, but according to Lithuanian laws, this is a serious violation of privacy.

“Responsibility for such actions can be applied in civil and criminal areas. In the case of civil liability, the victim can go to court and demand that the camera be removed and compensation for the damage suffered. If a person’s privacy is violated, moral damages can be claimed.

In the criminal field, the illegal installation of a camera in a dormitory can be considered a violation of privacy, which is a criminal act according to the Criminal Code,” said Tomas Braženias, a representative of the capital’s police.

A similar case caused a big scandal in Lithuania a few years ago, when a pervert installed a camera in a bio-toilet in Šiauliai.

Then, a person who went to the bio-toilet built near the Talkša lake to do natural things drew attention to the black round rubber on the back of the toilet lid.

Intrigued by the strange find, he poked it – the tire fell and the man saw the video camera. A resident of Šiauliai reported the incident in a public toilet to the police.

Homemade video recording equipment, a battery connected to it and a memory card containing 340 recordings were found installed in the toilet lid.

The police took the investigation of this incident seriously and even identified a suspect because the man filmed his own face.

The man from Šiauliai stood before the court for possessing pornographic content, but he himself categorically denied the guilt. Finally, he was acquitted in the Šiauliai District Court, due to a lack of evidence of his guilt.
