Neighbors told more about the tragedy that claimed two lives: this is not the first disaster in the apartment building

Things melted from the heat and smoked from the smoke, walls and floors filled with water. That’s all that was left of the apartment where it was born fire late Wednesday night. The neighbor Dalia, who lives next door and was already asleep, was woken up by the neighbor, the woman shouted that their house was on fire.

“The neighbor started knocking on the window. I approached him, then she started shouting that there was a fire. We quickly got dressed and ran out into the yard,” the woman told LNK news.

The woman only saw the flames when she went out into the yard. Through the window and the staircase, the fire entered the attic, although the fire started on the first floor of the house.

“The firemen came, the ambulances rushed. They told us all to vacate the yard and move on,” the woman said.

There were many flammable materials in the apartment, so the fire spread suddenly. The walls, ceiling, all the furniture and things inside were burnt. The fire also damaged common areas.

“The corridor itself, where there are four apartments, was affected. The ceiling of this corridor and the doors of the other residents’ apartments were the most (damaged, author’s page),” the representative of the Šiauliai fire brigade told LNK Amber Zone.

Firefighters took the bodies of three people out of the apartment, a dead man and his roommate, and an unconscious and severely injured man temporarily living in the same apartment.

“He has been poisoned by smalki. Partly conscious, partly not. Therefore, when the emergency crew arrived, it was handed over to him and taken away,” said the representative of the Šiauliai fire brigade.

One firefighter also needed medical help.

“He stretched one, then while stretching the second and third, his mask fell off, he poisoned himself,” said the resident of the house about the incident.

Why the firefighter was injured and how the protective mask fell will become clear after the investigation. His condition is serious but stable.

“According to initial data, he was poisoned by smoke,” said a representative of the Šiauliai fire department.

Two causes of the fire are under investigation.

“It is possible that there is an electric heating device, because this apartment where the deceased lived did not even have a solid fuel stove. And one of the main reasons is careless smoking,” said G. Zonis, the representative of the Šiauliai fire department.

According to the neighbors, the people who lived in the apartment were not exemplary, smoking and alcohol were abused here.

“Nobody got in the way, they hunted for the food when they needed it, apologizing. And that’s how it was thrown every day,” said the neighbor.

This is the second fire in this apartment building. Some time before, another apartment on the first floor had caught fire from the chimney.
