Anušauskas: in times of geopolitical changes and real threats, it is necessary to increase military budgets and modernize the armed forces

“In times of geopolitical changes and real threats, all Western countries, including Lithuania, are increasing their military budgets and seeking to modernize their armed forces. Modern, fast and effective armed forces have become a priority for all NATO members. Therefore, military technological superiority is of the utmost importance.

We must encourage representatives of the military and innovative companies to come together and carry out joint projects for the defense industry. I wish to make use of communication opportunities, find partners and turn my ideas into reality”, said Minister A. Anušauskas at the opening of the event.

According to the minister, regular meetings of all interested parties at the “Baltic Miltech Summit” event can stimulate innovation in the field of new defense technologies, create dynamic business opportunities and promote the development of the regional defense technology ecosystem.

More than 600 representatives from Lithuanian and foreign defense sector companies, investment funds, scientific research centers, technological start-ups and innovative companies gathered at the international event “Baltic Miltech Summit 2023” taking place in the capital. Together with representatives of the Ministry of National Defense and the Lithuanian Armed Forces, they will discuss the global trends in the development of military technologies and the development of the defense ecosystem at the conference. It will also discuss what innovative technologies are being sought now, how to enter the development and supply chain of new technologies.
