A political commentator says that Azerbaijani oil does not play a significant role in France’s fuel demand

On November 21, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, in his address to the participants of the international conference on “Decolonization: Women’s Empowerment and Development”, accused France of supporting separatism and colonialism:

“France destabilizes not only its past and present colonies, but also our region – the South Caucasus, supports separatist tendencies and separatists.”

The head of the country said that by arming Armenia, France implements a militaristic policy, encourages revanchist forces, and prepares the ground for the start of new wars in the region:

“At the same time, France abuses its status as a permanent member of the UN Security Council to carry out its biased, non-objective policy, engages in geopolitical intrigues in various regions, attempts to use Western organizations as a means of pressure on other states. does”.

Azerbaijan’s harsh rhetoric against France on the one hand, and cooperation in the energy field on the other hand, have raised a number of questions.

Political commentator Rauf Mirgadirov, commenting on questions arising in this direction to Meydan TV, believes that the amount of oil sold by Azerbaijan to France does not play a significant role in the fuel demand of this country:

“Note that France’s energy balance relies heavily on nuclear power and other sources. Also, France buys energy from Africa, Norway and other countries.”

Rauf Mirgadirov noted that one of the previous ambassadors of France often invited journalists to meetings and talked about his country’s foreign policy:

“But even though those conversations were not for the press, I asked if the courts in Azerbaijan are not free and the laws do not work, do they not create obstacles for your companies? The diplomat replied that French companies know how to work in countries like Azerbaijan. In other words, since the main goal of such authorities is profit, they provide it well.”

“Probably, they would have treated differently in the United States, because the legislation there severely punishes such cases. But France is a loyal country in this respect. According to Mirgadirov, the recent strengthening of anti-US and anti-French tendencies in Azerbaijan is situational:

The question arises: if relations are so tense, why doesn’t the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, return the state order “Officer of the Legion of Honor”?
