COP29 organising committee established

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on 13 January to establish an organising committee for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the 19th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol and the 6th session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement.

Samir Nuriyev, head of the Presidential Administration, has been appointed chairman of the organising committee.

Add that the organising committee includes Minister of Ecology Mukhtar Babayev appointed by COP29 President, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Economy, Interior, Emergency Situations, Health, Digital Development and Transport, Energy; head of the State Security Service, Presidential aides (Hikmet Hajiyev and Anar Alakbarov); head of the Baku executive power; heads of a number of state committees, services and agencies.

The organising committee has been instructed to prepare and implement a plan of events related to the above international forums to be held in Baku in November this year.
