The court granted the request to examine Alesgar Mammadli in a civilian clinic

The Khatai District Court on Saturday granted a request to conduct a medical examination in a civilian clinic for the arrested founder of the online publication Toplum Tv, Alesker Mamkdi. His lawyer Agyl Laij told about this.

The need for examination is caused by a tumor in Mammadli’s thyroid gland, which was discovered before his arrest. However, due to his arrest, he was unable to undergo a biopsy.

Due to the continued deterioration of Mammadli’s condition, there was an urgent need for a biopsy on him.

According to the law, if the detention facility does not have the opportunity and equipment for appropriate examination and treatment, then such an opportunity must be created for him in another institution of his choice.

During the court hearing, the investigative body did not object to the petition and the court granted it.

Alasker’s brother Nasimi Mammadli told that for now we are talking about an examination. According to him, after the holidays, Mammadli will be taken for examination to a clinic of the family’s choice. Then he will be returned to the pre-trial detention center.

Further decisions will be made depending on the test results.

*On March 6-8, 9 employees of Tolum TV and its partner organization, the Institute for Democratic Initiatives, were detained. They were accused of smuggling foreign currency. Seven people were arrested and two were placed under police supervision.

The founder of Toplum TV, Alesker Mammadli was also accused of currency smuggling. During a search in his apartment, 7,300 euros were allegedly found.
