In Iran's elections, Pezeshkian and Jalili advance to second round

Masoud Pezeshkian, belonging to the reformist wing, is leading in Iran’s 14th Presidential election with 43.5% of the votes. Saeed Jalili of the conservative wing follows with 37.7% of the votes. This was announced by Mohsen Eslami, a spokesman for the Islamic Republic’s electoral headquarters, Anadolu Agency reported.
Eslami announced these results after 19,069,713 votes were counted.
Thus, after the ballots were processed, Pezeshkian, a former Health Minister and ethnic Azeri, is leading the race with 43.5% with 8,302,577 votes. Jalili followed with 7,189,756 votes (37.7%). Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf was third with 14% (2,676,512 votes), while Mostafa Pourmohammadi was fourth with 0.8% of the votes.
A candidate needs to get 50+1% of votes to win the election.
According to the latest data, a second round of voting will be held on the 5th of July, in which Pezeshkian and Jalili will participate.
