The medical center is temporarily closed in the Seimas: they intend to announce a new public tender

On Wednesday, the issue of the operation of the medical center was also discussed by the Seimas Board.

Member of the Union of Lithuanian Peasants and Greens (LVŽS). Jonas Jarutis asked the chancellor of the parliament if the rumors circulating in the halls of the Seimas that the medical center is going to be closed are true.

“Deny or confirm (information – ELTA) regarding the activity of our medpoint. I am told by some colleagues that it is closing completely. Now there is a sign on the door saying that it is temporarily closed. How is it really here?” asked J. Jarutis.

Rita Skaisgirytė, head of the Seimas Activity Administration Department, informed that there is no intention to close the medical center. However, she assured that the services are not currently being provided – according to the director of the department, the former service provider voluntarily terminated the previous contract.

“Because of this, we had to announce a new tender for the service. The date of opening the service tender envelopes was the 21st of this month. Unfortunately, we did not receive any offers,” she regretted.

“Medpunkt’s premises will definitely not be closed and this service provision is not expected to be discontinued,” assured R. Skaisgirytė.

Therefore, continued R. Skaisgirytė, following the provisions of the Law on Public Procurement, the Seimas Chancellery will conduct a market consultation and continue to announce new tenders in search of a service provider.

“We will contact potential service providers until we find a service provider,” said R. Skaisgirytė.

Reacting to the situation, J. Jarutis considered that the employee of the medical center should be found without a public tender.
Otherwise, he predicted, the search for a service provider could take a year.

“What will happen with the canteen here – the processes continued for half a year or a year.” And there won’t be a result”, he recalled the discussions of the Seimas board regarding the non-functioning canteen in the parliament.

ELTA reminds that after the catering company that served the parliament last summer terminated the lease agreement, there was no last canteen left in the Seimas. In order to attract a new food supplier, the office announced tenders, but for a long time it did not receive a single company participating in public procurement.

Later, in November last year, after another successful public procurement, a contract was signed with a catering company. However, regardless of the result, the protracted processes angered the parliamentarians.
