Valkiūnas was given a severe warning for his statements about the LGBT community

“The commission strictly warns Seimas member V. Valkiūnas and urges him to express his opinion ethically, in his statements based on facts, and to avoid statements that can be understood as belittling or insulting persons belonging to the LGBT community”, Sergej Jovaiša voiced the commission’s conclusion during the meeting.

V. Valkiūnas himself also expressed his position at the Commission meeting, who testified that he had expressed his personal opinion during the Seimas meeting.

“I want to repeat that I gave my speech in the Seimas, from the podium of the Seimas, I want to emphasize that I expressed my personal opinion during my direct duties. A member of the Seimas cannot be punished for his statements,” V. Valkiūnas expressed his position.

V. Valkiūnas, during the time allotted for the statements of Seimas members, called the LGBT community a “terrorist organization”.

“The Church is already potentially being terrorized into giving its answer on gender and sexuality. Proponents of LGBT homosexual relationships are pushing to adopt conclusions and laws that are beneficial to them – that there is no longer a male and a female gender, there is no longer a traditional classical family,” V. Valkiūnas said on the Seimas tribune on Thursday.

“I think that until the LGBT is announced on a global scale as a potentially terrorist organization, potentially destroying the civilization of the whole world, then this, possibly psychological terror, will not end, in my opinion,” said the parliamentarian.

“Laisvietis” reacted to these words of the member of the Seimas Marius Matijošaitis and reported that Freedom faction regarding such statements of V. Valkiūnas, will appeal to the ethics watchdogs of the parliament.
