Forecasters admit: it is difficult to imagine this at the end of September
The previous record was achieved in 1981. In Klaipėda – “only” 23.4°C. It didn’t rain anywhere the previous day, and after a hot day, the night was fresher, the temperature dropped to 10-16 in many places. It’s hard to imagine speaking like this at the end of September, but.
Today, not only the heat, but also the sun will spoil you. A light southerly wind will blow. Clouds will begin to accumulate in the western regions in the evening, but rain is not yet forecast anywhere.
In our capital, Vilnius, it will be sunny until the evening, the temperature will fluctuate around 24 degrees.
On Saturday, the last day of September, our weather will begin to change as an active Atlantic cyclone approaches from the west. At night, Lithuania will remain in the warm sector of the cyclone, so the temperature will be summer – even 12-17 degrees Celsius. The sky will slowly clear and rain clouds will reach the coast before midnight. By morning, it will rain briefly in many areas, except for the eastern edge of the country. The wind will blow from the south, southwest, and will be moderate.
On Saturday, a cold, wavy atmospheric front will pass through the country, which will gradually displace the remnants of heat and pave the way for autumn weather. Short rains are expected in many places, they will be more intense in southern and eastern districts. The wind will turn from the west, strengthen to 8-13 m/s, gusts will reach 15-17 m/s on the coast. The temperature during the day on the seaside and Žemaitija will be only 17-19 degrees, elsewhere it should still be able to warm up to 20-22 degrees.
On Sunday, the weather in Lithuania will be determined by the southwestern edge of the aforementioned cyclone. At night in some places, during the day it will rain briefly and mostly sparingly in many places. A strong westerly wind will blow, with gusts of 15-17 m/s on the coast. As the night clears up, the temperature will drop to 8-13 degrees Celsius, it will be a bit warmer only in the coastal area. During the day, we will feel the autumn coolness – the air will only warm up to 14-19 degrees.
Atlantic cyclones will mostly shape our weather early next week. At night in some places, during the day we will get short rain in many places. There will be a gusty wind. The nights are predicted to be cool, and the days to be moderately (autumn) warm.
