Landsberg: We must admit that we need Ukraine

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the Lithuanian head of diplomacy discussed the growing importance of security issues in the Baltic Sea region and Central and Eastern Europe and Lithuania’s role in supporting Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression.

“First of all, we have to change the narrative – we keep repeating that we will be with Ukraine as long as it takes, but if we don’t say how long it might take, we’re not saying much. We must admit that we need Ukraine. If it goes to Putin, it would be disastrous not only for Europe. We must react again with all our strength, as we did at the beginning of the war and give Ukraine everything we can”, said G. Landsbergis.

The minister also emphasized the need to preserve transatlantic unity in order to achieve the fastest possible victory for Kyiv.

“We will need sufficient mutual trust among partners and allies to withstand political pressure here in Europe and in the United States.” This is what our community needs,” said G. Landsbergis.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminds that in the forum “Winning the war” held on September 26-29. “Winning the Peace” discusses the importance of the international response to Russia’s war against Ukraine, ways and means to strengthen collective defense and translate unity into political solutions and a concrete response.
