The most important municipal awards were presented – “Golden Curves” statuettes

As informed Association of Lithuanian Municipalities (LSA), representatives of all fourteen ministries of the country, the representative office of the European Commission in Lithuania, the Lithuanian Business Confederation and the Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists, which joined the awards this year, presented the statuettes to the heads of municipalities.

“(…) It is here, in the municipalities, that abstract plans take a tangible form and become real actions, changes and high-quality public services for residents. For this to happen, a lot of work needs to be put in, and it is for these outstanding achievements and progress that the “Golden Curve” statuettes are awarded,” said LSA president Mindaugas Sinkevičius.

Even two statuettes of the “Golden Curve” created by the sculptor Ramūnas Almins went to Vilnius city municipality this year: “For fostering public diplomacy” it was awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and “For ambitious changes to become a green city” by the European Commission’s representative office in Lithuania.

The Ministry of Environment, which established the nomination “Municipality with the largest number of green public procurements in terms of GDP value in percentage”, awarded the award to the municipality of Lazdijai district, and the Ministry of Energy awarded the award “For the biggest leap to green energy” to the municipality of Klaipėda district.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation awarded the Municipality of Panevėžys “for creating opportunities for business”. Molėtai district municipality received the statuette in the nomination of the Ministry of Finance “For responsible management of public finances and attracting investments”.

The Ministry of National Defense praised the municipality of Pasvalis district for “consistent cooperation in mobilizing the community and strengthening its civic power”, the Ministry of Culture named the municipality of Tauragė district as a “self-governing municipality – nurturer of culture”.

The representatives of the latter municipality will also bring the second “Golden Curve” statuette to Tauragė – it was awarded by the Lithuanian Business Confederation “for close partnership with business and setting an example in the field of green energy”.

The Ministry of Social Security and Labor, which established the nomination “For innovativeness, involvement and cooperation”, evaluated the municipality of Ukmergė district, the Ministry of Communications “For investments in transport infrastructure important to the state” – the municipality of Šiauliai city.

The “Golden curve” statuette in the nomination of the Ministry of Health “For innovative health management solutions” went to Jurbarkas district municipality, the Palanga city municipality was awarded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports “For creating a fair education system and creating opportunities for every student to experience educational success”. o Ministry of the Interior “For contribution to the creation of shelter network” – Prienai district municipality.

The Ministry of Justice awarded the municipality of Trakai district “for providing high-quality primary legal aid and close cooperation with the State Guaranteed Legal Aid Service”.

The Ministry of Agriculture awarded the Utena district municipality “For sustainable farming and landscape nurturing”, and the Kaunas district municipality won the award “For active partnership, growing added value for the community and the state” – this nomination was established by the Confederation of Lithuanian Industrialists.

LSA president M. Sinkevičius also announced the winners of the “Knight of the Golden Curve” title. This year, they became Kaunas District Vice Mayor Antanas Nesteckis, Mažeikiai District Municipal Council Member Antanas Tenys and Palanga City Mayor Šarūnas Vaitkus.

“Rite of the Golden Curve” awards are given to individuals for their services to Lithuanian self-government, its development and strengthening.
