Ankara and Yerevan are discussing the possibility of restoring the border crossing
Armenia and Türkiye will consider the possibility of restoring the Akhurik-Akyaka railway border crossing, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said following the meeting of the special representatives of the two countries Ruben Rubinyan and Serdar Kilic at the border, Sputnik-Armenia reports. The meeting took place on July 30 at the Margara-Alijan section. The parties confirmed the previously reached agreements.
“In addition, we agreed to assess the technical needs that will allow the launch of the Akhurik-Akyaka railway border crossing, as well as mutually facilitate visa procedures for holders of diplomatic/service passports,” the message says.
The parties noted the importance of continuing the settlement process without any preconditions.
This is the fifth meeting of the special representatives of Armenia and Türkiye. The last time such a meeting took place was on July 1 in Austria. It should be recalled that back in December 2021, Yerevan and Ankara appointed special representatives for negotiations on normalization.
