Shahin Rzayev (is released)

Journalist and political analyst Shahin Rzayev was arrested on January 15.

By the decision of the Surakhani District Court, he was sentenced to 15 days of administrative detention. He is charged under Articles 510 (minor hooliganism) and 535.1 (disobeying a lawful order of the police) of the Administrative Offences Code.

It is alleged that Shahin Rzayev swore in the street and ignored the police’s demands to behave orderly. As a result, he was detained and taken to the 31st police station in Surakhani district.

Journalist Shahin Rzayev has been released.

Toplum TV reports that he announced this on his social media account on January 16.

Shahin Rzayev was sentenced to 15 days of administrative detention on January 15 for minor hooliganism.

Yesterday, the court granted his appeal and changed the detention decision.

The journalist will have to pay a fine of 50 manats.

Shahin Rzayev is primarily known as a journalist specializing in conflict studies. He has actively participated in several regional and local civil society projects of significant importance.
