The Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry of Azerbaijan told Report that the purpose of this day is to call for the preservation of water resources and raise awareness.

Water resources are one of the most valuable resources for every country. Due to their uneven distribution around the planet, billions of people suffer from a lack of drinking water.

Therefore, saving water, its efficient use, a radical change in people’s attitude to water are among the most pressing issues of the modern world.

At present, Azerbaijan has 30 km3 of surface water, and in dry years this volume reduces to 20-21 km3. Therefore, the country is taking comprehensive measures for careful, efficient use and integrated management of water resources.
