Nigeria develops two COVID vaccines

Nigeria has created two vaccines for coronavirus infection, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.

According to the head of the presidential task force on COVID-19, the secretary of the Federal Government of Nigeria, Bossa Mustafa, the drugs are aimed at clinical trials and obtaining a certificate. He did not provide any other information about the vaccines, including whether foreign companies helped Nigerian specialists create the vaccine.

3.92 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine from the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca have already been delivered to Nigeria. Deliveries were made within the international COVAX mechanism framework under the auspices of the World Health Organization (WHO). Vaccination of the population in Nigeria started on March 5. The head of state, Muhammad Buhari, was also vaccinated against the coronavirus.

According to the latest data, Nigeria recorded 161,409 cases of coronavirus infection, including 2,027 ones with a fatal outcome.
