Ilham Aliyev: “I always said that the day will come when our occupied lands will be liberated”

“I have always said that the day will come when our occupied lands will be liberated, we will return to these lands and we have returned,” President Ilham Aliyev said during a speech on the Jidir Plain in Shusha on December 24, Report informs.

“I especially want to thank the people of Azerbaijan for their congratulations and for the support they have given me. I have felt this support since 2003 when I was first elected president. This support gives me strength. This support strengthens my will. As a result of this support, we – all the people of Azerbaijan – have achieved great historical success.

“The people of Azerbaijan have believed in me all these years. However, both the IDPs of that time and the public saw the meaningless negotiations going on year after year and realizing that the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was becoming more difficult. Nevertheless, my native people believed in my words. I was saying that one day the Azerbaijani flag will fly in the occupied territories, including Shusha, and we have seen this holy day at the expense of our martyrs. May God bless all our martyrs,” President Ilham Aliyev said.
