Smart mobility lab to be set up in Baku

The Baku Transport Agency (BTA) and the program of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne for Innovative Management of Large Urban Systems (IGLUS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the creation of a Smart Mobility Lab in Baku, Report informs, citing BTA.

The document was signed by BTA Chief of Staff Gulshan Rzayeva and İGLUS Program Director Matthias Finger. The purpose of the memorandum is to create a research laboratory in Baku to train local specialists in the field of public transport, urban mobility, and the development of infrastructure systems of a smart city, as well as improve the professional level of existing specialists.

The importance of cooperation with universities for the formation of sustainable urban mobility, the public transport system in general, and the study of Baku’s experience in this area with foreign and domestic specialists was emphasized.

Within the framework of the laboratory, the parties will cooperate in the development of innovative approaches to urban planning in Baku, as well as to conduct joint events to exchange knowledge and experience in the field of urban planning, mobility, and regulation of public transport.
