The possibility of operation of the Russian “Mir” payment system is being discussed in Azerbaijan.
This Azerbaijan Director General of the Central Bank Farid Osmanov said at a press conference on July 29.
According to him, the issue political and taking into account economic factors, with the participation of relevant state institutions, at the same time Azerbaijan–Russia is discussed within the intergovernmental commission.
What is the Mir fee?
Mir – Russia national payment system. It was founded in 2015. The creation of that system was explained by the financial security of Russia. Settlements are made in rubles.
On February 22 this year in Moscow Azerbaijan the president Ilham Aliyev and Russia President of the Federation Vladimir Putin “Azerbaijan with the Republic Russia “Declaration on mutual cooperation between the Federation” was signed.
Between the two countries in the document military, politicalcooperation in economic and other fields is discussed.
Article 28 of the declaration states that the parties in mutual settlements national to use currencies, bank will enable the mutual compatibility of payment systems, including the joint service of cards, as well as the development of direct correspondent relations between the banks of the two countries.
