BENGALURU, Feb 23 (Reuters) – Germany already strongly supports Ukraine and now other countries must do their part, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said on the sidelines of Group of Seven (G7) meetings on Thursday.

“Germany is already firmly committed and now others internationally must also contribute,” Lindner said as finance ministers met in Bengaluru, India, to discuss financial support for Ukraine ahead of the anniversary of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

To the discussion of Ukraine Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko, as well as central bank leaders will attend.

Ukraine needs additional financial support and the International Monetary Fund is working on a new support program backed by Germany, the finance minister said, adding that there should be a “fair sharing of burdens and risks”.

“This is the duty of all IMF members, not just a few countries,” Lindner said.
