Stella McCartney Pushes Skinless Style | – #Stella #McCartney #Pushes #Skinless #Style

PARIS, March 6 (Reuters) – Stella McCartney drove home the leather-free fashion message by sending a team of horses alongside models wearing styles made from new, eco-conscious materials.

The designer said that he tries to explore the relationship between man and nature.

“Especially this season there’s a lot of leather and feathers on the runway,” she told Reuters after the show.

“I just want to show everyone in the world and the fashion world that you really don’t have to do that,” she said. Materials used in her collection are sourced from, for example, mushrooms and apples, and wine grape waste was used to make the label’s curved S-Wave bag.

Seven horses, led by their trainer Jean-Francois Pignon, performed individually and in form at the show at the Ecole Militaire stables in Paris.

Some of the models wore horse prints in a nod to their fellow performers, while others carried images of horse photographs taken by McCartney’s sister and mother.

Their high-heeled shoes sunk into the sandy floor, they wore long, tailored jackets, fur-lined coats, some reminiscent of spotted horses and, conversely, silk asymmetric dresses lined with lace.

Actress Jessica Alba, singer Avril Lavigne and model and designer Camila McConaughey all watched from the front row, along with family members of LVMH Chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault.

LVMH owns a minority stake in the label, and McCartney serves as an environmental consultant to the entire luxury group.

His connection with horses deepens.

“I’ve been riding since I was born,” McCartney said.

“We grew up on horses in the middle of nowhere, really, barefoot. I just remember falling off them all the time and always getting back up.”
