The lawyer found out where Muhammed Kekalov is being held
Rovshana Rahimli: “I spoke with the investigator, I will meet at 3 o’clock”
Shortly after the arrest of the director of the “AbzasMedia” website, Ulvi Hasanli, the whereabouts of the social activist Muhammed Kekalov, who was said to have been forcibly taken from his home by people in civilian clothes, have been revealed.
According to the information given by his lawyer Rovshana Rahimli, the young activist is currently in the Khatai District Police Department.
“I spoke with the investigator in the case of Muhammed Kekalov. I will meet Muhammad at 3 o’clock.” Rovshana Rahimli said.
Although the lawyer applied to various state bodies for 3 days, he could not meet the person whose rights he defended.
According to the defender, they were not even informed about the whereabouts of Muhammed Kekalov.
Only on November 22, the head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Elshad Hajiyev, said that the public activist was brought to criminal responsibility.
“My last request to the 102 service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding Muhammed Kekalov was on November 22 at around 01:52. I have asked them to register my complaint again. On November 22, Elshad Hajiyev informed me that he was brought to criminal responsibility and that he had another lawyer. However, I am his lawyer and I have officially informed the relevant institutions about this.”
According to Elshad Hajiyev, Mahammad Kekalov was also brought to justice in the same criminal case as “AbzasMedia” director Ulvi Hasanli and editor-in-chief Sevinj Vagifgizi.

Not being informed about Muhammed Kekalov’s whereabouts for days, not allowing his lawyer and relatives to meet with him gave rise to the possibility that he was tortured.
There are claims on social networks that he was tortured and tried to obtain statements against Ulvi Hasanli and Sevinj Vagifqizi.
Ulvi Hasanli was arrested on November 20 around 5 o’clock in the morning while getting into a taxi in front of his house.
Sevinj Vagifqizi was detained at Baku airport at around 2 o’clock in the night on November 21 when the plane landed.
On November 20, a search was conducted in the office of “AbzasMedia” and Ulvi Hasanli’s house, and immediately after the arrest of Sevinj Vagifgzi, at around 3 o’clock in the morning, the apartment where he lives was searched.
It was claimed that 40,000 euros were found in the site’s office.
Ulvi Hasanli said that there was no money there, that 40,000 euros were deposited in the office by those who claimed to have found it.
Both Ülvi Hasanli and Sevinj Vagifgızi said that the charges brought against them were absurd and that they were arrested because of corruption investigations into the activities of AbzasMedia.
