“Abzas Media” online edition will be managed by a new team from abroad.

“The government has exhausted the resources of Abzas Media by arresting its employees, and the resulting repressive environment makes it impossible to operate from Azerbaijan.” For this reason, at the request of the management of “Abzas media” who is in prison, Leyla Mustafayeva will perform the position of temporary editor-in-chief during this period. He will supervise the work of the new editorial staff scattered in different countries of Europe. We understand the importance of creating a safe environment for journalistic activity and we highly appreciate the support of the global community and our foreign colleagues who value freedom of speech in these difficult times.

Leyla Mustafayeva, who became the temporary editor-in-chief, also made a statement about the issue.

According to him, 15 media organizations from different countries, including “The Guardian” and OCCRP, will participate in the activities of “Abzas Media”.

It should be noted that some time ago, 6 employees of “Abzas Media” were accused and arrested under the smuggling article of the Criminal Code.

The journalists do not agree with the charges brought against them and state that their arrest was a political order.
